Will Cereal A GO! go?

Over the years I have highlighted various bowl inventions designed to improve the cereal eating experience. Most of these concepts were designed to solve the problem of soggy cereal, by keeping the cereal and milk separate as much as possible.

The latest concept is Cereal A GO!, a two-container system developed by a retired Army paratrooper. In addition to separate compartments for the cereal and milk, it was designed to be used with one hand, making for greater convenience. The user simply squeezes the liquid side and it sprays into the cereal. The attached spoon can be likewise operated with the same hand while hold the device. The cereal can be eaten directly from the built-in bowl, or transferred to a more conventional one.

The inventor, Jesse Fairchild, has patented Cereal A GO!, and is hoping that cereal companies will license the product for selling their products, but also sees application in other setting, such as in relief efforts.

It's an awkward looking device, but in a tight market, something like this might be a solution for the cereal industry seeking to make cereal consumption more convenient for today's picky consumers.

Would you use it?

Sink Bowl

Over the years it's been fun to report on new concepts for cereal bowls. Inventors try to overcome some of the challenges we face when eating cereal, mostly the issue of sogginess. The latest is the "Sink Bowl" a design concept by Sherwood Forlee.

The Sink Bowl is actually two bowls, one stacked on top of the other. The top bowl has a small plug in the bottom. When your cereal has been in milk for just the right amount of time you simply pull the plug to let the milk drain out to the lower bowl.

Perfect? The Sink Bowl does not appear to be available for sale so I haven't actually tried it, but for those are picky about soggy cereal this could be a solution. My concern is with the small little plug and the attached cord. There's got to be a better way to handle that, but then of course it wouldn't be a sink!

Obol

Over the years I have highlighted the inventions of passionate cereal lovers, such as innovative bowls.

The latest is the Obol, which bills itself as "The Original Crispy Bowl", designed to eliminate soggy cereal (although some people like milk-drenched cereal!) With a unique "Swoop n Scoop" design, the cereal and milk are kept separate until that moment that you move your spoonful of cereal in and through the milk.

What is particularly noteworthy of this bowl is its creative design, which includes its ability to be easily held.

Could this be a new way to eat cereal?

Hi-tech bowl

It's been awhile since I've highlighted a new bowl for cereal lovers. Here's one that is probably more fun than practical, and also educational.

The Loopa Gyroscopic Toddler Bowl is designed to be spill resistant because of its gyroscopic technology. The inner bowl is weighted and connected to two outer rings that keep it upright no matter what.

This could make breakfast even more fun for kids!

Spilt Milk Bowl

I've highlighted new designs in cereal bowls before. Most of them try to solve a problem, like keeping the cereal crunchy, etc. Perpetual kid is offering one that has no real practical advantage, but it might be a fun one to have around. Made from flexible silicone the Spilt Milk Bowl adds a splash of fun to your breakfast table!

(Thanks Jacob for the tip!)

CerealThing

Inventors are still trying to come up with the perfect cereal bowl, especially in our highly mobile society. I have highlighted a number of them in this blog.

Here's the latest, the CerealThing, a mug-shaped contained with individual milk and cereal compartments, separated by a patented valve. The insulatated milk compartment also has a built-in cold pack.

Yet another bowl

Creative inventors are always looking for ways to make common activities easier and better experiences.

I have frequently highlighted innovative cereal bowls and dispensers, including travel bowls that separate the cereal from the milk, and keep the latter cold. The latest is the Fresh Start Breakfast Chiller, a complete, multi-compartment plastic device to take your cereal with you when are on the go. The bottom layer is actually an ice ring to keep your milk chilled for up to 6 hours.

Eatmecrunchy bowl

Occasionally I come across an interesting new kitchen item for cereal lovers. The latest is the Eatmecrunchy bowl, a uniquely-designed bowl for those who like their cereal crunchy.

The bowl has a shelf that holds the cereal above the milk, and a small section where the two actually mix. The bowl is from the United Kingdom, so I haven't tried it myself and it doesn't appear to be available in North America yet.

Cereal-on-the-Go

Occasionally I have highlighted interesting gadgets and packaging designed to make eating cereal a more convenient and enriching experience. Here's a new one: A plastic dual chamber container with a cereal bowl and milk jug, including a freezer pack to keep the milk cool. Great for eating breakfast on the go!
